A Place For AdventuresMAREEBA, QUEENSLAND

Mareeba, located on the Tablelands above Cairns in Queensland, is a place for adventures. On the cusp of the Queensland Outback it’s the gateway to the wilds of Cape York, as well as being right at the doorstep of World Heritage listed rainforest. For those wanting to explore and engage with the natural surrounds, there are a few different National Parks offering an array of experiences. For ancient rainforest and towering trees, visit Barron Gorge National Park and Dinden National Park. For open eucalypt woodlands with clear flowing streams there’s Davies Creek National Park, or for tumbling waterfalls, check out Barron Falls and Emerald Creek Falls. Visitation to all of these is free of charge.

For tours and activities, you’re spoilt for choice. You might choose to self-tour, by taking one of the many walks in the National Parks. Or get on two wheels, to enjoy the numerous trails of the world class Davies Creek Mountain Bike Park. There is also an abundance of guided tours and activities including micro-light flights, hot air ballooning and even a motorcycle trike tour. Whatever your preferences, sunny Mareeba is the perfect base to explore the many experiences and stories of the region and the Mareeba Visitor Information Centre can assist with maps, travel tips and suggestions.
