Wealth of Local Knowledge

Museum History

The Mareeba Heritage Museum and Tourist Information Centre opened its doors in October 1995. Five local business men set upon raising funds for a much needed facility. They succeeded in raising a large amount with contribution from State Government, local Council and donations from the local towns people.

The Mareeba Heritage Museum and Tourist Information Centre was established in order to provide a facility dedicated to promoting the Mareeba Shire's history and its vast array of attractions.

The displays are showcased with backdrops complementing the topic on display with a user friendly approach to visitors where they can touch and feel various items on display.
